REVIEWS OF LENA HALL AS ALI COOPER IN YOUR FRIENDS & NEIGHBORS ON APPLE TV+

Lena Hall is brilliant as Coop's sister, Ali. Briefly off her meds, she stalks her ex-fiancé, sitting on his lawn with her guitar and singing. Hall, who won a Tony for her role in the Broadway revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in 2014, sings occasionally through the series - an asset, not an intrusion. She makes Ali empathetic, funny and warm, and the bond between the brother and sister is touching. After she is back on her meds, her romantic subplot suggests that theirs really is a family full of bad choices.

“His sweet but mentally ill sister, Ali (Lena Hall, one of the better things about this show) One sure thing is that Mr. Hamm will keep your attention for as long as you have him, and another is Ms. Hall, who is a treat, especially when she sings.”

“ Hamm nicely keeps Coop anchored enough for us to stay invested in his well-being, while he shows remarkable chemistry with much of the surrounding cast, particularly Hoon Lee as best friend/business manager Barney and Lena Hall as his troubled sister Ali. ”

“The two biggest highlights of Your Friends and Neighbors' cast, outside of Hamm, are Hall's Ali and Aimee Carrero's Elena. As Ali, Hall adds an extra level of emotion to the show pretty quickly after her introduction, which sees her camped out in front of her married ex-boyfriend's home strumming her guitar. Yet the show never tries to portray Ali as a helpless victim, and her strong bond with Coop adds even more dimension to both characters.”
